Since it is in direct contact with the coolant area, the water jacket is vulnerable to erosion. To prevent any damage to the engine’s internal cooling system, technicians use 3 ½% soluble oil to water or use water filters. If the erosion is far more exceeding than usual, one can use magnesium rods to dampen the galvanic action created in the cooling system. This measure is particularly important for engines with wet sleeves.

Test the Movement of the Sleeve after installation
To reap the maximum benefit of installing a sleeve in the engine block, individuals must ensure its proper placement. A good measure to test if the sleeve has been installed correctly is turning it by hand. If one is able to do it effectively, then the individual can be assured that sleeve has been rightly placed.

Delicate parts and components of both the engine and the sleeves can be affected with dust or their internal joints can be permanently damaged due to rough handling. In addition, upper inside bevel or chamfer of the block must also be inspected for jagged edges. Sharp ends of chamfer can cut the rubber seal during installation.
